Resumo

This research aims at analyzing some of the perceptual features used by speakers and non-speakers of Brazilian Portuguese for speaker verification in Brazilian Portuguese speech samples. The focus of the study was to evaluate the identification rate and to analyze which type of information (acoustic and/or lexical) was used by listeners during the speaker verification task. The results of a comparative analysis of duration-related acoustic salience and speech rate in VV units/s and, furthermore, the analysis of the speakers’ f0 median could be one explanation for listeners’ wrong choices, since they could be relying their choices on these rhythmic cues.
