Abstract: The article analyzes the political-cultural resistance carried out by the magazine La Bicicleta and by the group Colectivo Acciones de Arte (CADA) in the context of the military dictatorship in Chile (1973-1990). In this analysis, it was first presented the transformations that occurred in the Chilean cultural field after the 1973 coup, with emphasis on the so-called “cleaning operation” carried out by the dictatorship, which aimed to undermine artistic productions that presented an positive view of the Salvador Allende government, and direct the arts towards the construction of an imaginary in accordance with the ideas propagated by the military regime. Then, the article highlights the emergence of La Bicicleta and the CADA group in the midst of such a troubled context, their respective ways of acting and the reflections they raised on the political and social role of the arts, especially in the face of political exception regimes. The article’s conclusions demonstrate how such cultural initiatives helped to challenge official historical readings propagated by pinochetism and offered innovative strategies of political denunciation and cultural resistance. The article is structured in three parts: firstly, we present the concept of capitalist realism, as well as the crisis of imagination it expresses; in the second part, with the aim of demonstrating how capitalist realism presents itself in the Chilean context, we recover the well-known speech given by Patricio Aylwin in 1991, on the occasion of the reopening of the National Congress; and finally, in the third part, we present a reading of Eltit’s essay with the intention of, on the one hand, demonstrating the way in which the author re-establishes the link that capitalist realism – the ideological expression of neoliberalism – establishes with the operationalization of forgetting, and on the other hand, how she elaborates her confrontation.
Keywords: neoliberalism; Chilean dictatorship; capitalist realism; memory; Diamela Eltit.

Abstract: This article discusses the works of KIMVN Theater Company’s repertoire, highlighting the symbolic aspects as well as the reflections that constitute the testimonies of characters that reenact memories of political repression against the Mapuche after the coup d’état in Chile (1973).

Abstract: This article aims to analyze the work La casa de los espíritus (House of spirits), by Isabel Allende. It considers the arrival of Alba (the narrator) to the prison and her torture by the dictatorship. There, inside a despair, she sees her life about to disappear. Her salvation resides in the contact with her friend Ana Díaz and the spirit of her grandmother Clara, who persuades her to survive and give her testimony. The main argument is to think about this image of the torture of a young woman, her imminent death and the new meanings about the need to survive and testify the horror. For that we consider Gagnebin’s theoretical base (2006), with the amplification of the testimony; Rosa (2013), with important contributions about the meetings that increase or decrease the individual’s potency; as well as Sarlo (2007), Todorov (2008) and Seligmann-Silva (2003 about the task of the testimony in times of exception.
