PORTUGUÊS – PASSAPORTE PARA NOVOS MUNDOS: UMA VERSÃO BRASILEIRA

Resumo

A necessidade de se exigir a comprovação de domínio de uma língua estrangeira é cada vez mais freqüente em um mundo no qual intercâmbios econômicos, culturais e políticos têm se multiplicado de forma acelerada. O conhecimento da língua e da cultura do outro funciona como passaporte que nos dá ingresso a novos espaços. No quadro de uma política de difusão de língua que se pretenda ágil e sintonizada com nosso tempo, buscar um sistema eficaz e confiável de certificação em Língua Portuguesa para estrangeiros que desejem estabelecer contato com nossa realidade e com nossa gente representa um desafio de monta. O exame para obtenção do Certificado de Língua Portuguesa para Estrangeiros – CELPE-BRAS, instituído pela Secretaria de Educação Superior (SESu) do Ministério da Educação e do Desporto (MEC), constitui a proposta oficial brasileira nesse sentido. Em nossa exposição, apresentaremos a trajetória, os objetivos, os pressupostos e o arcabouço do referido exame, abordando ainda o perfil da população-alvo, a dinâmica dos processos de aplicação e de avaliação, e os níveis de certificação instituídos.

The need to require proof of foreign language competence is increasingly common in the world of economic, cultural and political exchanges which is proliferating rapidly. Linguistic and cultural knowledge of other countries is a passport which allows us to enter new areas. Within a language diffusion policy that is intended to be agile and in tune with the times, the search for an efficient and reliable system of certification in Portuguese for foreigners who wish to enter into contact with our reality and with us represents a huge challenge. The examination for the Certificado de Língua Portuguesa para Estrangeiros – CELPE-BRAS (Certificate in Portuguese for Foreigners), instituted by the Secretary for Higher Education of the Ministry of Education and Sports, constitutes the official Brazilian proposal for this system. In this presentation, we will show the trajectory, the aims, the presuppositions and the overall philosophy of this examination, as well as indicating the target population profile, the dynamic of the processes of application and evaluation, and the levels of certification established.
